Home Experiment
1. What question do you have?What do you want to learn more about?
What would make a paper airplane fly better? I want to learn what things affect how the plane flies and what makes it fly better.
2. What is your hypothesis? Predict what you think will happen.
I think if I cut some of the paper off it will be lighter and fly better
If I add paper clips in key spots it with balance better and fly better
If I add more paper there is more surface area and this helped fly better in the helicopter experiments

I give permission for my child to do this experiment at home. Signature on slip of paper.
4. What did you do? What was your procedure? (write this step by step so I could do it too)
We made six identical paper air planes
Put on aside, it was the control
Cut a small triangle out of the back of both the wings
Add the triangles to a normal unaltered plane to see what the opposite did.
Added a paper clip to the center underside of an normal plane
Added two paper clips one in the center underside and one half way between the center and the back to a normal plane
Added two paper clips one in the center of each wing.
Take a rope and measure every yard and mark it with flags or sticky notes
Lay the rope striaght out in front of you.
Fly each plane four times in a row recording the distance and time every trial.
Find the averages of the trials
Find the inch per second amount

The control airplane did well in terms of time in the air it stayed in the air 3.29 on average seconds with one trial of 6.67 seconds. The Type B plane had the wings cut down. It was the highest in both average distance and average IPS. Adding weight did not help and didn't improve balance. Though Type F flouted well. With more weight on the back it “hopped” like a boat hitting wakes.
7. What science did you learn?(The more you explain, the more points you earn.)
I learned that weight distribution affects the flight of plane the most. Where not what the weight is changes how the plane flies. Also what you do to the back of the ends of the wings. When you add weight to the back the nose is lighter and tilts up creating a “speed boat” like effect. Cutting paper of the wings improves time in the air but not distance. I think the back is so important because changing something there affects how the wing brushes through the plane.
8. What suggestions do you have for other researchers doing this experiment, or what ideas do you have for other experiments?
Make sure the throws are consistent
Count the inches carfully to be accurate.
Start the stop watch when the plane is released not when the person moves their arm to throw, this creates a longer time in air then true because you've included time to throw.

DNA and RNA have different tasks and structure. DNA is like a twisted latter, with rungs made of bases, and sugars and phosphate as the uprights. RNA is ribbon like, similar to a the latter cut apart or into chunks. Messenger ribonucleic acid is a copy of the DNA stored in the nucleus; but it is only one half of it, split where the two bases (rungs) were connected. Transfer RNA are sentences, chunks, of three bases, which connect to the mRNA accordingly. DNA is the hard copy of the genes, RNA is copies of pieces when put together proper;y form new DNA. Also, in RNA Thymine (T) is replaced with Uracil (U).DNA and RNA are different though both store genetic information.

Thymine was proved trough evolution to be a more desired base. DNA is a “original” of a persons genes. RNA is just a copy, though essential in making new DNA. Deoxyribonucleic acid needs to be a clear, and precise; the nucleotides need to be easily recognized. Uracil is not wanted in DNA because it can cause replacement of bases, and other mutations. When coping DNA Cytosine (C) can become uracil through deamination, the replacement of a group or base; and then would be paired with adenine (A). This creates new instructions, where C is replaced with T, and G replaced with A. Nucleotides will less often be replaced with thymine then uracil, and therefore is desired or needed to better copy DNA.

Dear Mr. Kelly,
In my family there is myself, my two brothers: Tyler and Adam, they're feisty,energetic,and sometimes a distracting nuisance. Tyler is nine years old and Adam is seven. Also there is my mom and dad who are funny, nice, and supportive. I also have another branch of my family my baby cousin Bohden, Gram,Grampa Norm, and Gramp. I often walk to Great Grandpa John's (Gramp's) house after going home, here my gamma, a smart and kind grammy, baby sits my baby cousin Bohden (5 months old) along with my Great Grandpa John. I often see Grampa Norm there returning from work. He tells me about the exciting electronics labs he sets up, sometimes I get to see or try these things. We are all one family though we don't live under the same roof.
I live in Pelham, at the trailer park across the street from the Pelham Elementary School and the Pelham Library/Fire Station/Police Station Building. I have lived here all of my life. My family has lived in Pelham for seven generations. We lived since before the United States was fully formed. I have two chinchillas which I got from my first grade teacher Mr. Lipman. I also have a Siamese cat named Sagawa after the Siamese cat on a PBS TV show.
I like science and am interested in astronomy,space,and physic. I enjoy making models, diagrams,charts,and model rockets specifically. I once set off many model rockets during our family fourth of July gathering,I did this with adults to be safe. I would like to know more about animals.
I was interested and impressed by space exploration and how it is so intense and how your working against gravity and so much more, which makes it a challenge.
I play the violin. I find it interesting because you can play different types of music. I build and tinker with things in my spare time. I would try and get good at teaching, I think a teacher has one of the most challenging jobs, they have to get inside peoples heads to learn how to teach well. Figuring out how students brain works is hard, and it should be we have thick sculls to get through before you can reach the brain. The challenge intrigues me and makes want to be a teacher
I went to Pelham Elementary School, and think Pelham is awesome. I brag about going to Pelham and cheer for it like it was my favorite baseball team(the Red Socks). My favorite subjects are math and science, because I was pretty good at these subjects, which made me more eager to learn. Also if you search hard enough you can find the answer, it's not the teachers option or a wishy-washy answer, it is straight forward and logical. I had trouble in spelling and grammar or editing. I had no zeal for these subjects and therefore didn't do as good in these subjects. In editing I wrought the paper and knew what I typed or wrought so I felt no reason to go back again, and would skim edit.

Assessment: Paper Pet Evolution Result Summery
Result Summery:
Color: The phenotype of green skin was overall more common in all the generations. Then blue was the next overall greatest number. The yellow skin color trait prevented camouflage, and in the F5-F7 generations there were no yellow skinned jungle paper pets. Green color increased then decreased again, topping out at 9/12. The phenotype of blue skin decreased then came increased and by the F7 generation reached a little more than where it started in the F4 generation.
Eyes: Star eyes general stayed low. Star eyes were a mutation and didn't spread much in the jungle paper pet spaces. Square eyes, a respective trait decreased than increased a little. The round eyes trait were the most common among the jungle paper pets. There were no star eyes by the F7generation, and the dominant round eyes peaked at 9/12 ratio.
Nose: The two nose phenotypes of round & triangle, though one dominant, occurred similarly in the F5 & F7 generation they were equal with a 6/6 ratio, and both had a highest point of 8, and lowest point of 4.
Teeth: Square even though it was recessive showed up more in all the generations, this is good for our jungle paper pets because they need square teeth to eat in there environment. Square teeth twice in the F5 and F6 generations had a 12/12 ratio. Pointy teeth was expressed some in the F4 generation with a 4/12 ratio, and only twice in the F7 generation with a 2/12 ratio.
